Will i lose weight if i eat whatever i want with moderation and jump rope or run an hour daily?

i want to lose weight.. can i do so if i rope an hour daily and eat whatever i want? it might be a bit easier for me because most of my mum's food is very light and homemade. so can i eat whatever i want in addition to that and exercise an hour daily and lose weight?? only until i discipline my eating habits then ill cut down the exercise a bit and ill develp a whole new way of eating, but i need to lose weight first to be inspired to do that.. and i will really feel like doing it when i start to see results. so will it work?
