Was " La Ola " invented in Mexico by Mexican soccer fans ?

Hola is hello is spanish, so to me La Ola would the "The Hello" but then mexican spanish is somewhat different than other spanish dialects, I'm part colombian, and in colombian spanish we use lots of ito and ita at the end of words.
